Songwriters Showcase to benefit
Brookdale’s 9/11 Relief Fund

LINCROFT — Brookdale Community College’s public radio station, 90.5 The Night, will host a Songwriters Showcase to benefit Brookdale’s 9/11 Relief Fund.

The radio station will team up with the Brookdale Performing Arts Center to honor the victims of Sept. 11 with eight hours of performances by local and nationally renowned musicians. Two four-hour shows are planned for Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center Main Theater. Audiences should use parking lots 1 and 2.

The show’s lineup includes Marshall Crenshaw, Jill Sobule and Shannon McNally. Local artists to be featured include Josh Ritter, Virginia, Michael Ferentino and Andres Karu, Jabberpony, John Carlin, Nicole Atkins, J Pat, Mellow George, Spike Priggen, Chrisie Santoni and New Family, Val Emmich, Mimi Cross, Crown Jewels, Kevin Salem and David Poe.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Brookdale Community College Foundation 9/11 Relief Fund. The fund was created by the Brookdale Community College Foundation Board of Trustees to provide funds to help offset the cost of books and supplies for Monmouth County dependents and spouses of individuals killed in the Sept. 11 attacks. Dependents and spouses are also eligible to attend Brookdale without paying tuition and fees, thanks to a tuition relief program implemented by the college.

Single show tickets are $35, $30 for seniors and children, and $25 for Brookdale students. All-day passes will also be available for $50, $45 for seniors and children, and $40 for Brookdale students. Members of 90.5 The Night will receive a $5 discount on any tickets. To purchase tickets or for more information, call the Performing Arts Center at (732) 224-2411.

The Sept. 14 show is the kickoff event for the fall season of 90.5 The Night Songwriters Showcase. The series continues with Slaid Cleaves and Caroline Herring on Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. The next show is scheduled for Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. and will feature Don Conoscenti. Both shows will be held at the Experimental Theater at Brookdale Performing Arts Center. There will be three more Songwriters Showcase events in the spring.
