Freehold Kruise Nite season finale Sept. 26

The fifth and final Kruise Nite of the season, "A Kruise for the Hungry," will take place from 6-10 p.m. Sept. 26 on the streets of downtown Freehold. The event will feature live performances from two local bands, Jade Fire and the Boro Boys.

Admission is free, but those attending are requested to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Freehold Area Open Door food pantry. Cash donations, toiletries, and baby items such as disposable diapers are also appreciated.

Kruise Nite is sponsored by the Freehold Center Partnership, Freehold Ford-Kia, and the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce. In addition to the display of vintage and classic cars, hot rods and motorcycles lining the downtown streets, there will be live music in the Hall of Records parking lot. Jade Fire, an all-boy band featuring nine members ranging from age 13 to 16 play a four-piece rhythm and five-piece horn section. They will perform from 6-7:30 p.m. The Boro Boys, a four-piece group specializing in classic rock and blues covers, will play from 8:30 to 10 p.m.

The Center Players will host an open house during Kruise Nite from 6-10 p.m. at the Center Playhouse, 35 South St., with entertainment, refreshments and a chance to win tickets to an upcoming show. An open reading of material being considered for the upcoming season will take place from 7-9 p.m., with audience discussion to follow.
