Boating safety course
offered in Manalapan

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 23 is offering a six-lesson course on boating skills and seamanship at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters in Manalapan.

New Jersey law mandates that to operate any power vessel, anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1979, must take a classroom-based safe boating course to obtain the N.J. Boating Safety Certificate. The certificate is also needed for anyone who wishes to operate a personal water craft.

The course will be offered on Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. starting April 19 and ending on May 24.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be awarded a N.J. Boating Safety Certificate and will meet state requirements to apply for a personal water craft/Jet Ski license. There is a $45 fee for course materials. To register, call (732) 946-8273.
