County health dept. schedules flu clinics
• People who are 65 years of age or older • Adults with chronic heart or lung conditions, including asthma • Adults who are diabetic • Adults with chronic kidney disease • Adults with weakened immune systems, including HIV ad AIDS • Adults on long-term aspirin therapy • Health care workers and first responders. The health department is also offering flu shots for children ages 6 months to 18 years who have no insurance, at the Social Services Building, 3000 Kozloski Road, Freehold Township. An appointment is required; call Lorraine Hopwood at (732) 294-5458. This year, the Board of Health will ask those who come to the clinics to show identification, and the health department will be able to vaccinate only those people who reside in its contracted towns, which are: Allentown, Asbury Park, Atlantic Highlands, Avon-by-the-Sea, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Englishtown, Farmingdale, Howell, Manasquan, Marlboro, Matawan, Millstone, Neptune City and Township, Ocean Grove, Oceanport, Roosevelt, Sea Girt, South Belmar, Spring Lake, Union Beach and Wall Township. Residents of these towns may attend any of the health department’s clinics: The fee is $15; Medicare will be accepted. In addition, clinics for residents of Crossroads and Friendship Gardens, both Howell, will be open to those residents only (age 60 and over), and the flu shots will be free of charge.
