Robert James Beams

Mr. Beams, 70, of Freehold, died Oct. 1 at home. Born in Long Branch, he had lived in the Freehold and Howell area all his life. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served from 1952-55, he was employed by E.I. DuPont, Parlin section of Sayreville, for 35 years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 54 and Elks Lodge No. 1454, both of Freehold, as well as the North Shore Antique Automobile Club. He was predeceased by a son, Lawrence John Beams, in 1991; a grandson, Robert James Beams II, in 2002; his parents, Edward and Muriel Beams; and two brothers, Frank and Edward Beams. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Louise Vanderveer Beams; three sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Kathy Beams of Howell, Kenneth and Michele Beams, of Toms River, and Thomas and Robin Beams, of Jackson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Stephen Bibby, of Freehold, and Lori Beams, of Englishtown; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Arlene Beams, of Freehold, Sandy and Paul Petro, of Lakewood, Joyce Befarah, of Belmar, and Janet Aeling and Nancy and Thomas Baehney, of Howell; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph and Marion Beams, of Florida, and Frederick Beams, of West Virginia; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Vincent “Vic” D. Ulatowski

Mr. Ulatowski, 85, of Englishtown, died Sept. 29 at home. Born in Harrison, he had lived in Englishtown since 1933. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a radar operator for Battery C, 355th Coastal Artillery Brigade, who participated in campaigns in Italy and North Africa. In 1945, he was honorably discharged as a sergeant. After the war, he was employed by Washington Forge, Englishtown, as a machinist. In the early 1950s, he began working with his brother, Frank, at Frank’s Auto Repairs, also in Englishtown, as a mechanic before retiring in the 1990s. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Leo Ulatowski. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Olga Ulatowski, of Englishtown; two cousins, Bert Dudkin, of Englishtown, and Agnes Cworkowski, of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.

Yeshwant Karandikar

Mr. Karandikar, 68, of Manalapan, died Oct. 1 at home. Born in India, he had lived in South Brunswick before moving to Manalapan three years ago. He was a retired civil engineer. Surviving are his wife, Shaila; three sons, Mahesh of Seattle, Devesh, of New York City and Paresh, of Herndon, Va. Funeral services were private, with Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
