Little Hearts Day Camp accepting applications

Little Hearts Day Camp in Roosevelt is accepting applications for summer camp. The camp is open to children ages 2 1/2 to 6 years of age, and will run on a 10-week schedule — June 20-Aug. 26. Participants may choose from two to five days per week for one to 10 weeks. Each session will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and there also will be a mini-camp from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and extended hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The day camp schedule includes a daily art project and large-group organized play. Science, math, reading readiness, and cooking will also be incorporated into the day, as well a weekly barbecue and local trips. Enrollment is limited to 19 children per day so that each child will receive individual attention. UF Rec. offering summer camp for grades K-6

The Upper Freehold Township Recreation Department will once again be conducting a summer camp program for children entering grades K-6 in the fall.

The five-week program will run from June 27 through Aug. 5 (no camp week of July 18) from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The camp will be held at the Upper Freehold Elementary School.

The cost is $220 per camper for the full five-week program. Sibling discounts are available. The camp will feature a variety of activities including sports, games, arts and crafts, water play activities, and more. Car show June 21 in Upper Freehold Twp.

The “Cruise for Prevention,” to benefit drug prevention programs in the Upper Freehold Township schools and community, will be held June 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Byron Johnson Recreation Park, Ellisdale Road, Upper Freehold Township. The event will feature a car show (all types of vehicles are welcome), The Bent Fenders band, food, 50/50 raffle, games, door prizes, trophies and music. Food and craft vendors sought for July festival

The Allentown Presbyterian Church is organizing its third annual “Freedom Fest”, which is scheduled for July 18-23 at the Upper Freehold Regional School complex, Route 539, Allentown. The event will feature Amusements of America, games, food, craft vendors, and entertainment all week. This year’s lineup includes The Nerds on Monday, The Fabulous Greaseband on Tuesday, The B Street Band (Bruce Springsteen tribute band) on Wednesday, the Community Christian Choir on Thursday, child entertainer Mr. Ray on Friday with the band Three Sides Now playing later Friday evening, and fireworks on Saturday. Food and craft vendors are needed for the event.

‘The Incredibles’ June 29

at Byron Johnson Park

The Friends of Upper Freehold will host a “Movie in the Park” event June 29 at 8:30 p.m. at Byron Johnson Park, Upper Freehold Township.

The feature presentation will be “The Incredibles,” and admission is free.

Bands invited to compete

at summer event

Keyport’s third annual Battle of the Bands will be held July 30 at the Mini Park, Main and West Front streets. All New Jersey bands are welcome to apply.

Winning bands will be judged on musicianship, showmanship, and fan interaction. Prizes include recording studio time, and featured appearances at future festivals, street fairs and special events in Keyport and other locations.

To eligible to compete, bands must send tapes or CDs, press kits, photographs, résumés or bios, and at least two references, to Allen Consulting Inc., Attn: Battle of the Bands, 89 Middletown Road, Holmdel 07733.

Golf outing to raise funds

for Relay For Life

A “scramble tournament” golf event to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life will be held July 15 at Cream Ridge Golf Course, Upper Freehold Township.

The cost is $125 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, gold cart, lunch before tee-off, steak dinner following the round of golf, and prizes. Sponsorships are $100 per hold.
