Second Language Literacy and Learning Connection, a new company to the central New Jersey area, offers various language programs to all age groups. The company’s goal is to properly identify language problems and provide an individualized treatment program for second-language learners to become proficient in their new language. The company also promotes second-language learning (English/Spanish) skills for those who wish to become proficient in more than one language.

Business After Hours, sponsored by the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, will be hosted this month by Grape Beginnings Wine School, 54 W. Main St., Freehold.

The school guides “students” through the process of wine making, from crushing and pressing fresh wine grapes to racking oak barrels and bottling the wine.

The Aug. 23 event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and will provide participants with the opportunity to meet the staff of wine makers and learn more about the process of producing private-label wine at about $7 a bottle. The fee to attend the Business After Hours event is $10 per person and includes refreshments. Participants should bring business cards. Professional and Business Singles Network is sponsoring the following events. Membership is not required; walk-ins are welcome.

A dance social will be held Aug. 20 at 8:30 p.m. at Ramblewood Country Club, 200 Country Club Parkway, Mount Laurel (dressy attire, jacket and tie, no jeans or sneakers). Admission is $13.

A live band dance party featuring Rewind will be held Aug. 26 at 9 p.m. at 94th Bomb Group Restaurant, 195 Passaic Ave., Fairfield. Admission is $13. Rewind plays music of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.

Dr. Andrew Weil, an expert on health and well-being, will appear at the Garden Manor in Aberdeen Oct. 26 to discuss his forthcoming book, “Healthy Aging: A Lifelong Guide to Your Physical and Spiritual Well-Being,” to be published in the fall.

The event, which will be presented in the form of a town hall meeting, is the first of six nationwide events sponsored by Friends’ Health Connection and Origins Natural Resources. The New Jersey appearance is also supported by Whole Foods Market and CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.

Weil will be interviewed on stage, which will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience. Weil will also comment on current medical studies and discuss the most promising areas of future research.

Advance tickets are $38 and include a complimentary copy of Weil’s new book (which will retail for $28).

The town hall meeting will begin at 7 p.m., and the event will be preceded by a health and information fair from 6-7 p.m. that will spotlight a variety of natural products and will also offer health information provided by representatives of CentraState Medical Center.
