County library to host annual archives event Historians, archivists, genealogists and others with similar interests will soon gather at the 10th annual Archives and History Day, supported by the Monmouth County Clerk and a grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission, and in recognition of Archives Week, which is being celebrated throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. The event is scheduled for Oct. 15 at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, Symmes Drive, Manalapan. Seventy-two organizations represented by about 200 people will have table exhibits. Speakers include Alex Magoun, “The RCA Origins of Everyday Things,” and Elsalyn Palmisano on CAPES, the free archival consulting service managed by the MARAC/NJ Caucus, also with funding by the historical commission. Awards will be presented to Joseph Felcone, Flora Higgins and the Princeton University Library. There is no charge to attend and registration is not required. In connection with Archives and History Day, a large exhibit of historical photographs will also be on view in the library, Oct. 3-31.
