Auditions

Phoenix Productions will hold auditions for its December production of the musical “Nuncrackers,” the fourth in a series of “Nunsense” comedies, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m at the Phoenix Studio Theatre, 111 Monmouth St., Red Bank (next to the Count Basie Theatre). All parts are open. Auditioners should prepare 16 bars and must have sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Auditioners should also be prepared to dance. Details: (732) 747-0014.

Mercer County Community College’s Kelsey Theatre will hold auditions for The Who’s “Tommy,” to be presented by Cheng/Ferrara Productions and The Pennington Players. Auditions will be held Oct. 22 and 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the college’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. The cast includes eight males and six females, ages 16 and up, and two children. Performers should have excellent stage presence and energy and must be competent singers capable of learning difficult harmony parts. Dancing ability is a strong plus. Auditioners will be asked to perform an up-tempo song from musical theater and should bring the sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. There are nearly 40 characters; with the exception of a few principals, most actors will play many roles. Appointments are required. Marlboro Players will hold auditions for its winter production of “The Wizard of Oz” at Marlboro Middle School, 355 Route 520. Auditions for adults and teens (ages 12 and older) will be held Oct. 24, 8-10 p.m.; auditions for children ages 11 and younger will be held Oct. 26, 7:30-10 p.m. Callbacks will also be held Oct. 26. Show dates are Jan. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29, with Feb. 3, 4 and 5 for any cancellations due to snow. Actors must be available for all shows. Brick Community Players will hold auditions for Sondheim’s “Company” Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. at the Brick Township Civic Center, 270 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick. Needed are strong singers for eight female and six male roles, ages 21-60. Those auditioning should bring a prepared song with accompaniment or sheet music. Running Rabbit Theatre Company, a professional not-for-profit family theater company in residence at Luna Stage in Montclair and Two River Theatre in Red Bank, will hold open auditions for “Winnie the Pooh Christmas Carol” and “The Velveteen Rabbit” Oct. 20, 4-6 p.m., at Luna Stage. Needed are musical theater performers, especially a boy 8-15 years of age for “The Velveteen Rabbit.” Those auditioning should prepare a song and be prepared to read. Premier Theatre Company, Lincroft, will hold auditions for “Scrooge: The Musical” Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 22 at 11 a.m., for adults and children, at the Henderson Theater, 850 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. The Heart of New Jersey Chorus, Sweet Adelines International, is seeking new members. There are openings in all voice parts. The chorus recently returned from its annual competition and received the Most Improved Chorus award as well as ribbons for second place in the Small Chorus category. The chorus meets at the Frank Defino School in Marlboro.
