Auditions

Over the Rainbow Productions will hold auditions for “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress,” a comedy by Alan Ball, Nov. 12, 1-4 p.m., at the Eatontown Playhouse, Route 35, Eatontown. Rehearsals will begin Nov. 20. Performance dates are Jan. 6-28. Those auditioning should bring a one- or two-minute monologue or something to read; the material does not have to be memorized. Additional sides will be provided at the audition, and candidates will be asked to do, or attempt to do, a Southern dialect. Résumés and photos are requested, if available. Mercer County Community College will hold auditions for “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” Nov. 19 from noon to 4 p.m., with callbacks Nov. 20 at 1:30 p.m. The show will be performed by Stars in the Park and directed by Diane Wargo. The audition location will be posted at Kelsey Theatre on the college’s main campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor. Those auditioning must be over 16 years of age and should prepare 16 bars of a vocal selection that best shows their range; an accompanist will be provided. Auditions will also include dancing and readings from the script. A résumé and photo are requested. The audition is open, but appointments are requested

Monmouth Players will hold auditions for Frederick Knott’s “Dial ‘M’ for Murder” Nov. 14 and 15 at 8 p.m. at the Navesink Library Theater, Sears and Monmouth Avenues, Middletown. Needed are five men ages 35-60 and one woman between the ages of 30 and 45. Performance dates are Feb. 4, 5, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24 and 25. All roles are open.

First Avenue Playhouse will hold auditions for the British farce “Run for Your Wife,” directed by Gary Stern, Nov. 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. at First Avenue Playhouse, 123 First Ave., Atlantic Highlands. Needed are men and women ages 20s through 50s. Scripts will be provided for reading. The production will be held New Years Eve and the month of January. Spotlight Players will hold auditions for “Jake’s Women” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 3 and 7-9 p.m. Dec. 5, at the First Presbyterian Church of Matawan, Route 34 and Franklin Street. Needed are eight women ages 18-50 and one 12-year-old girl. The role of Jake has already been cast. Scripts for reading will be provided. Performances will be held in early February. The Heart of New Jersey Chorus, Sweet Adelines International, is seeking new members. There are openings in all voice parts. The chorus recently returned from its annual competition and received the Most Improved Chorus award as well as ribbons for second place in the Small Chorus category.
