Obituaries Carl Carlson Mr. Carlson, 89, of Freehold, died April 9 at home. He was born in Lakewood and resided there before moving to Freehold more than 50 years ago. A former commercial fisherman, Mr. Carlson retired in 1975 as an ammunition inspector for Naval Ammunition Depot Earle, Middletown. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a member of the military police. He was a communicant and usher at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, and a fourth-degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1672, both in Freehold. He was a member of American Legion Post 54, Freehold, and a founding member of the Lakewood Blackhawks. Mr. Carlson was predeceased by his wife, Ethel, in 2005; a son, Richard, in 1997; and two brothers, Robert and Gilbert. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Freda Carlson of Point Pleasant; a daughter-in-law, Patricia of Freehold; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown, Burlington County.
Florence R. Dean Mrs. Dean, 83, of Freehold, died April 11 at home. She was born in Greensboro, Del., and had lived in Marlboro before moving to Freehold 51 years ago. Mrs. Dean was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Dean, in 1965, and a daughter, Mary Ellen Dean, in 1994. She is survived by a son, Donald Dean, at home; a daughter, Barbara Potter of Alabama; three sisters, Eleanor of Florida, Marie Paulsen of Nebraska, and Mary Trice of Delaware; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services and interment will be held in Millsboro, Del. The Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, is in charge of arrangements. William Quinn Mr. Quinn, 73, of Freehold Township, died April 11 at home. Born in Trenton, he was a longtime resident of Freehold Township. For more than 50 years, Mr. Quinn was a police equipment dealer and master gunsmith. He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic High School. He was a member of the Monmouth County and Ocean County Chiefs of Police Association; the International Chief of Police Association; a Silver Card recipient of Freehold Township Policemen's Benevolent Association Local 209; and president of the Point Pleasant Fishing Club. Mr. Quinn is survived by his wife, Wanda Quinn; a brother, Eugene Quinn of Freehold; and a sister, Patricia Quinn of Florida. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. The Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Betty Chaprack Mrs. Chaprack, 87, of Manalapan, died April 11 at the Daughters of Miriam Center, Clifton. Born in Poland, she came to the United States with her parents and lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan 28 years ago. She was a member of B'nai B'rith, ORT and Hadassah. Mrs. Chaprack was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Irving, in 1995. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol Schwartz, Alice and Stephen Barrow, and Maxine and Richard Wachsman; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. Memorial donations may be made to Daughters of Miriam, P.O. Box 2698, Clifton 07015.
Stephen Connelly Mr. Connelly, 27, of Manalapan, died April 12 in Staten Island, N.Y. Born in Staten Island, he was a longtime resident of Manalapan. Mr. Connelly was an apprentice elevator mechanic with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 3, Manhattan, N.Y. He is survived by his children, Donavan and Trinity; his parents, Richard and Debra Connelly; two sisters, Linda Loennecker and Amanda Connelly; his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Ann Connelly; and an aunt, Sharon Connelly. The Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
