Education Night planned for June 5 The New Jersey Coastal Communiversity invites future teachers to a June 5 "Education Night." The presentation will be held from 5-7 p.m. with workshops offered at 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. The free event will take place at Brookdale Community College's Wall Township Higher Education Center. Pre-registration is requested; call (732) 280-7090, ext. 3. Representatives from Georgian Court University, New Jersey City University and Pathways to Teaching Alternate Route advisers will be present to meet with students. The workshops will advise students on their undergraduate, graduate and alternate route options to obtain their New Jersey teaching certificate. Communiversity staff will be on hand throughout the evening to answer questions and assist students in identifying the best program to suit their goals. Topics to be presented will include options for associate in art (AA) degree graduates now seeking a bachelor's degree in education as well as bachelor's degree holders in fields other than education who are interested in earning teacher certification through a master's degree in education or through the New Jersey Pathways Alternate Route program. The Communiversity alliance includes Brookdale Community College, Georgian Court University, Montclair State University, New Jersey City University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Ocean County College, and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Led by Brookdale Community College, the Communiversity partners offer selected associate, bachelor's and master's degrees and graduate certificates in Monmouth County. Students take courses in the county while earning their degree from one of the seven partner colleges. The Communiversity, located at Brookdale's Wall Higher Education Center, is the first alliance of its kind in New Jersey.
