U.F. resident condemns latest tax increase

I have lived in the Cream Ridge section of Upper Freehold for almost 14 years and do not have a problem with paying my fair share. However, when houses that were built in the past five years have their taxes reduced while people who have lived in the town for years have seen their taxes go up 50 percent or more, there is a problem. I also would have to question the management that has taken place within the township. The schools and infrastructure have had to change because of all the new homes. So, shouldn't new homeowners pay the largest portion of the burden? Yet, their taxes went down.

I would like to see someone pursue a mismanagement lawsuit against the Upper Freehold Township Committee. They knew what they were doing when they allowed all the building to take place. They didn't try to do anything - they just sat back and collected the fees for the new buildings.

I think every citizen in the township should take note of who is on the committee today and make sure these individuals are not part of it in the future. They have proven themselves to be incompetent and shortsighted. I would also like to know if their own taxes went up 50 percent or more - or did they get a decrease?
