Community Day slated in Upper Freehold Twp.

Upper Freehold Township will sponsor its annual Community Day celebration on Sept. 16, beginning at 2 p.m. in Byron Johnson Park on Ellisdale Road. The rain date for the event is Sept. 17. Admission is free. There will be inflatable rides, games, pony rides, a food court, hay rides, a magic show, a pie- eating contest, door prizes, a paintball range, and much more for the entire family. There will also be a live performance by The Party Dolls from 6-8 p.m. A spectacular fireworks display at dusk will conclude the festivities. Call (609) 758-7738.

Halloween fundraiser for TRF scheduled

The annual Halloween Hunter Pace, a fundraiser for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF), will be held October 29 at Assunpink WMA, Upper Freehold on East Branch Road. Teams of 2 or 3 will depart between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. from the log cabin. Refreshments and carrots for the horses will be provided. Fee is $30 per rider. The top two teams closest to the pace time will be awarded ribbons and $100 each. Call Pat Jasin (732) 505-9700. Open house slated for new art, music program

An open house for a new, ecumenical mid-week art and music program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade will be held Sept. 27, at the Methodist Church, 23 Church St., Allentown. Families can drop by between 4 and 6 p.m. to find out about the program and to register. The program will run in ten week sessions beginning Oct. 4 and will be similar to a Vacation Bible School format. Christian values will be taught through music and the arts. Allentown schedules

historic walking tours

Self-guided walking tours of the entire historic district will be offered Sept. 9 and Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. In the event of rain, the tours will take place Sept. 23. Members of the Allentown-Upper Freehold Historical Society and other volunteers will be stationed throughout the town to answer questions and to provide information regarding the history of the village, founded in 1706 and celebrating its 300th anniversary this year. Tour maps prepared by Elizabeth Roselius for the Allentown Business Community Association will be distributed.

Roosevelt continues

popular yoga program

The Roosevelt Recreation Department is continuing its yoga program at Roosevelt Public School. Classes are instructed by Kym Kulp, a certified yoga instructor who also teaches at The Peddie School and throughout the area. While yoga mats will be provided, participants are welcome to bring their own. Classes will be offered 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Sept. 26. The cost of the program is $10 per session.
