Food pantry seeks help for holidays

JACKSON - The Jackson Food Pantry, 62 Don Connor Blvd., will be accepting donations for the December holiday distribution.

The food pantry is run by the Jackson Women of Today.

Food donations needed for the holiday distribution are turkeys, canned and fresh hams, chickens, canned yams and potatoes, stuffing, gravy, canned vegetables (corn, carrots, green beans, peas only), muffin/biscuit mixes, pies, olives, and other trimmings.

All food donations will be accepted only on Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For other drop-off arrangements call Vickie or Carol at (732) 833-6800.

The holiday schedule is as follows: Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is the community volunteer shelf stocking day; small donations will also be accepted.

Dec. 14 from 3-7:30 p.m. is the client food distribution only. Clients should bring all required paperwork for registration: proof of address, photo identification and a utility bill.

Anyone wishing to volunteer for either day may contact Vickie at (732) 252-6862.

Items needed on a regular basis are personal care items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, paper products (no plates or cups), laundry/dish detergents, baby formula, 2T-6T toddler diapers, stages food, baby wipes, canned vegetables (no canned beans), tuna, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, cereals (all kinds), cans or jars of red sauce, dry pasta, canned soup, and rice/pasta mixes.

The Jackson Women of Today thanked all of the community groups, schools, churches, businesses and individuals who have made donations and run food drives to support the food pantry throughout the year. The group said the Thanksgiving food distribution was a huge success due to the overwhelming response of donations.

Any community service or civic group interested in running food drives or making donations may contact Vickie or Carol at (732) 833-6800 or (732) 252-6862 for more information. Financial donations may be sent to Jackson Women of Today, P.O. Box 1042, Jackson 08527. Designate the donation for the food pantry.
