Program exposes children to arts, music and more ALLENTOWN - The Community Christian Choir will once again sponsor its educational arts program for children. An open house for the midweek Christian Arts and Music Program (CAMP), which is designed for children ages 6 through sixth grade, will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Jan. 17 at the Allentown United Methodist Church, located at 23 Church St. in Allentown. During the open house, families can drop by to learn more about the program and also register their children for the new CAMP session, which will run every Wednesday for 10 weeks beginning Jan. 24. The class is scheduled from 4:15 to 7 p.m., with a flexible start time. "In this weekly program, children experience biblical truths and spiritual formation through music and other worship arts such as drama, sign language, puppets, movement, writing and journaling, speech choir, arts and crafts, and more," said Pat Weitz, CAMP's music teacher. Weitz, who specializes in teaching children, also directs the Community Christian Children's Choir and instructs Kindermusik. According to Weitz, several Christian artists from the area will be participating in CAMP, leading various arts rotations during programming. "By integrating the arts into high-quality, meaningful experiences, children can have life-giving and life-changing moments for development and growth of their spiritual lives," she said. Families are welcome to participate in CAMP regardless of church membership or affiliation. The program is sponsored by the Community Christian Choir in its development of a Christian school for the arts, according to Weitz.
