Singing group seeks new members for 25th season ALLENTOWN - Those looking for a means to let their voices be heard may not have to look any further. Now in its 12th year, the ever-growing Community Christian Choir is still seeking new members. "The Community Christian Choir is celebrating its 25th season of offering creative, upbeat and inspirational vocal music programs of excellence to area audiences," Patricia Weitz, the choir's director, said. Since its inception in 1995 in Bordentown, the choir has had two program seasons per year, culminating in a series of benefit concerts. There is no ticket charge for attending the concerts, according to Weitz, who said the choir donates any free-will offerings collected at the shows to local charities. Throughout its history, the choir has raised more than $105,000 for worthwhile charitable organizations. Singers in the choir come from all over the area - as far south as Marlton, as far east as Howell, as far north as New Brunswick and as far west as the Bucks County area in Pennsylvania, according to Weitz. "It is truly a unique community choir," Weitz said. "Singers come from a variety of churches." In celebration of its 25th season, the choir is encouraging new singers to participate. Those who wish to join the adult choir this season can sign for its introductory division, "Genesis," while 5- and 6-year-olds can register for the "Grace Note" section of the children's choir. There is a $25 fee, which helps defray the choir's expenses for sheet music, practice CDs and royalties, Weitz said. Prospective new singers are welcome to visit a choir rehearsal prior to registering. The adult choir rehearses Friday evenings. Children rehearse on Sundays in the late afternoon and early evening. Most rehearsals and registrations take place at the Allentown Presbyterian Church, located at 20 High St. (Route 539) in Allentown. Concerts will be held in late April and early May.
