Bullets found in Millstone middle school
BY JENNIFER KOHLHEPP
Staff Writer

MILLSTONE - A group of sixth-grade boys found two bullets on the floor of the boys' locker room in the Millstone Township Middle School on Feb. 21.

Superintendent of Schools Mary Anne Donahue said the students promptly handed the bullets over to a teacher, who gave them to the administration. The administration contacted the New Jersey State Police and held assemblies to speak to students on the day of the incident, she said.

"The police questioned the boys in the group but no one admitted to bringing them in," Donahue said. "The administration held assemblies for kids and went over the handbook and what is appropriate and not appropriate to bring to school."

Upon arrival, the state police began an investigation. Detective Michael Rosica said the matter is still under investigation and could not provide any further information.

The administration will continue to partner with the state police in an ongoing investigation, according to Donahue.

Donahue said on March 5 that police have determined that the incident at the middle school does not seem to be related to the bullet found by a maintenance person at Allentown High School on Feb. 23.

"The situations are not related, according to the New Jersey State Police," Donahue said. "The state police continue their investigation. Nothing definitive as of today."

Donahue said parents and guardians should further review the information in the school planner with their children. She said parents and guardians with additional questions should reach out to her or to the school district's Key Communicator Group, which is a group of volunteers that act as a liaison between school officials and others in the school district.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should call Principal Michelle Vella at (732) 446-6802.
