Growers of exceptional plants highlighted in book

On Thursday, April 12, lawyer, garden writer and well-known lecturer Ruah Donnelly will speak to the Allentown Garden Club on how to acquire unusual varieties of plants in the New York/New Jersey area.

Her latest book, "The Adventurous Gardener: Where to Buy the Best Plants in New York and New Jersey," highlights some 120 growers of exceptional plants, all visited and researched by the author. She is a trustee of the New England Wildflower Society and former vice president and trustee of the Tower Hill Botanic Garden. In 2003, she received a Silver Medal of Honor from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society recognizing her achievements in horticulture. Donnelly will have copies of her book available for purchase and signing at the program, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Allentown Methodist Church on Church Street. The public is welcome to attend. For more information visit www.allentowngardenclub.org or call president Jennifer Elder Brady at (609) 581-0462.
