Cycle scenic Monmouth County in upcoming tour An upcoming bicycle tour will take riders on a journey through Monmouth County's farmlands. The Central Jersey Bicycle Club (CJBC) will host its 23rd annual Farmlands Bicycle Tour from Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, on May 5. Ride check-in starts at 7 a.m., according to a CJBC press release. The family-friendly event has marked ride routes in a variety of distances from a leisurely 18-mile jaunt to the more ambitious metric century (62.5 miles) and century (100 miles) distances. All routes follow Monmouth County's back roads, allowing riders to enjoy New Jersey's farmlands. Riders are given cue sheets detailing the route distance they have chosen to ride. SAG vehicles drive the route to provide them with assistance. Bagels, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, water and Gatorade will all be provided at the start of the ride. Rest stops along the route will be stocked with drinks and snacks to rehydrate and replenish carbohydrate stores. Riders who preregister for the event will automatically be entered in a raffle to win one of two Garmin Edge heart rate monitors or a Sports Instruments cyclometer. Lunch, provided by Blimpie of Lincroft, may also be ordered as part of preregistration. Ride applications are available from the club's Web site at www.cjbc.org for advance registration.
