Voter disappointed with Millstone officials

I was totally shocked and disappointed to read that our elected Millstone officials decided to overturn the recent school proposals against the voice of the people who elected them. Who do they think they are? Our elected officials are so arrogant that they threw out the majority view of the voters and sided with their cronies to pass a failed budget. The hell with the people who took the time to read about the issues, made time to go out to vote and made their wishes known only to have our officials in their infinite wisdom abuse their power and overturn the will of the majority of those who voted.

And, did you hear that Mayor Nancy Grbelja said, the close vote in the election indicated to her that people wanted the township government to review the budget? That is such arrogant bull! The majority of those who voted said no! That is the message you should have gotten. And, Elias Abilheira said, "I think I would violate the trust that residents put in me when I was elected if I (voted) to cut the budget." Again, more arrogance! You all were elected to support the will of the voters, not the agenda of your friends. And, our deputy mayor wasn't even present for the vote. Why should we even bother to vote in the future? Oh, I can think of a reason - to throw these demigods out of office!

I thought we lived in a democracy but am beginning to wonder when this supposed aristocracy of elected officials can completely disregard the will of the electorate. Property taxes have risen every year and are truly out of hand. My taxes are now twice as much as they were in my previous home in less than five years! I do not know how people on fixed incomes can stay in this town. People are leaving New Jersey in record numbers due largely to property taxes, and our Millstone officials are hastening the exodus.

Our elected officials should be finding new and innovative ways to fund education and remove some of the inefficiencies and extracurricular activities that waste tax dollars. I am always reading about how our elected officials have saved us taxpayers millions of dollars with the changes they have made. Well, where is that money going? It sure isn't reducing our property taxes. I think our elected officials should all resign since they all failed miserably in their primary job of representing the will of the electorate.
