Camp Invention fosters creativity and teamwork
Millstone Community Education will offer Camp Invention for campers ages 6-11, June 25-29 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Millstone Elementary School. Camp director is Joanne Schiumo, a district teacher. The cost is $199. Camp Invention is a nationally acclaimed, week-long science experience filled with activities that foster creativity, teamwork, and inventive thinking skills for children entering grades 1-6. Children will enrich their understanding of science, math, history and the arts by participating in five modules each day. Module 1, Wild Blue Yonder: Under top secret assignment, craft your own vehicle to safely deliver secret documents to the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Module 2, Tape Me to Your Leader: Talk to aliens who have landed on Earth. Using tons of tape, you will create a command center that will put you in touch with these unusual visitors. Module 3, Solve It - The Missing Inventors Log: Recreate the crime scene by building a model home. Become a detective as you investigate clues to solve this exciting mystery. Module 4, I Can Invent: The signature activity of Camp Invention where campers use tools to take apart appliances and invent something totally new. Module 5, Amazing Games: Create fun new games where you make the rules. You decide the object of the game, the equipment, and the players. Campers should bring a bag lunch and drink for supervised lunch.
