Annual 'Ride for Autism' bike tour rolls around

The New Jersey Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community (COSAC), and Ride for AutismSM will host the seventh annual "Ride for AutismSM Charity Bicycle Tour," on Saturday, June 9 from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Brookdale Community College, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft.

As one of the only autism bicycle tours in the country, the Ride for AutismSM raises awareness about autism, a complex, life-long developmental disability that affects one in 150 children nationally. New Jersey has the highest prevalence rate in the nation, affecting approximately 87,000 individuals. More than 600 riders and volunteers will participate in a great day of cycling and autism awareness. Proceeds from the event will benefit COSAC and families affected by autism across New Jersey. To register, visit www.ride4autism.org, call (732) 521-2722, or e-mail ride4autism@comcast.net.

Roosevelt sponsors

a theater arts camp

The Roosevelt Recreation Department is co-sponsoring a summer camp program with Youth Stages, LLC entitled "Act Cool This Summer." Children will take part in theater games and drama exercises that explore physical and vocal expression. Students will also bring characters, action, and dialogue to life as they convert a story into a play. The children will create costumes and scenery and share their performance with family members on the last day. The program will be held at Roosevelt Public School, August 6-10. A program for students in grades 1-3 will be held from 9 a.m. - noon and a program for students in grades 4-6 will be held 1-4 p.m. The cost of the program is $125 per student. Registration deadline is July 30.

Contact the Recreation Office at (609) 448-0539 ext. 3 for more information.
