Millstone car crash leaves one in coma MILLSTONE - Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith has been issued two summonses after his sport-utility vehicle (SUV) ran a stop sign and collided with a car on Stillhouse Road, according to the New Jersey State Police. Smith, 31, who resides in Millstone and whose real name is Earl J. Smith III, was driving a 2003 GMC Yukon south on Stillhouse Road at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. His SUV improperly passed another vehicle and failed to stop before it entered the intersection of Stillhouse and Stagecoach roads, according to Sgt. Stephen Jones, of the New Jersey State Police. Smith's vehicle collided in the intersection with a westbound Jaguar driven by Lynn Sinatra, 49, of Millstone, Jones said. At the time of the accident, Smith had two passengers in his SUV. He and Andre Bell, 21, of East Orange, who was sitting in the back seat, were ejected from the vehicle upon impact, according to Jones. Neither man was wearing a seat belt, Jones said. Smith was transported via ambulance to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for a left-shoulder injury along with minor cuts and bruises. On Monday, he was still under hospital care but was listed in stable condition, according to Jones. Bell, who was airlifted to Jersey Shore, was listed in critical condition on Monday. He received severe head trauma and is in a coma as a result of being thrown from the SUV, Jones said. Another passenger in Smith's vehicle, Carl Marshall, 23, of Chicago, was transported via ambulance to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township, where he was treated for lower back pain and later released, according to Jones. Sinatra was also taken to CentraState via ambulance, he said. She was treated there for a hip injury and was later released. Jones said the state police issued Smith two tickets on Monday morning, the first for failing to stop at a stop sign and the second for improper passing. The accident is still under investigation, according to Jones, as police continue to gather witness statements and also await the results of a toxicology test.
