Photo contest accepting entries through Sept. 17
If you like to photograph subjects such as nature, landscapes, natural resources, agriculture, or people interacting with the environment, waterscapes or wildlife then the Freehold Soil Conservation District has a photo contest for you. The district is looking for photos that promote the beauty and uniqueness of the natural environments found in Middlesex and Monmouth counties. The first-place winner will receive $200; second-place winner, $100; and third place, $75. Photos must be taken in Middlesex or Monmouth counties. Limit one entry per person, ages 18 and over. Photo location, landmark, town or address should be included with each entry. Photos should measure 8 by 10 inches or 8 by 12 inches (color or black and white). Submissions must be received by Sept. 17. All photos become the property of the contest sponsor. Photos may be submitted by mail to Freehold SCD, 4000 Kozloski Road, P.O. Mad Science camp offered in Roosevelt
The Roosevelt Recreation Department is co-sponsoring a summer camp program with Mad Science of Central Jersey titled "Survival - Predators and Prey." Campers will learn how animals adapt and discover how birds and beasts catch their prey. Campers will participate in an owl pellet dissection and will build bird and bug houses. The program will be held at Roosevelt Public School, 9 a.m. - noon on July 23-27. The cost of the program is $110 per student. Students in grades 2-6 can register. Roosevelt will sponsor summer concert series
