Museum puts out call for residents' work The Montclair Art Museum (MAM) is accepting submissions of art work for consideration to be exhibited in the New Jersey Arts Annual: Crafts through Sept. 15. The New Jersey Arts Annual is a series of fine arts and crafts exhibitions highlighting the works of visual artists and craftspeople in the state. The juried show is open to any artist currently living or working in New Jersey. The New Jersey Crafts exhibition theme will be Tribal Roots in the Garden State. As host, MAM chose this theme to dovetail with its mission to "collect, preserve and present American and Native American art to inspire creativity and a deeper understanding of America's unique diversity." While not a prerequisite for submission, MAM invites artists to be inspired by its collections of American or Native American art. Jurors for the exhibition are Jimmy Clark, Director of Peters Valley Craft Center; Ulysses G. Dietz, Curator of Decorative Arts, Newark Museum; and Skeffington Thomas, Chairman of the Art Department, Rowan University. The Arts Annual series is sponsored by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner Agency of the National Endowment of the Arts; the Jersey City Museum; the Montclair Art Museum; the Morris Museum; The Newark Museum; The Noyes Museum of Art, and the New Jersey State Museum. Prospectus and additional information are available on the museum's Web site www.montclairartmuseum.org or by calling (973) 746-5555, ext. 242. There is no entry fee for applicants. The exhibition will open at MAM on Feb. 24, 2008.
