Boyle follows Setaro's lead to Freehold MILLSTONE - The school district's business administrator will soon join its former superintendent in the Freehold Township School District. Business Administrator Brian Boyle, who has worked in the Millstone Township School District since December 1997, has been hired for the same position in the Freehold Township School District. Former Superintendent of Schools William Setaro left the Millstone district last year to take the superintendent position with Freehold Township schools. Setaro recommended Boyle for the business administrator position to the Freehold Township Board of Education during a July 24 meeting. The board unanimously voted to hire Boyle at a salary of $150,000. Setaro said he is pleased he will be working with Boyle again. "He is an extremely bright and personable professional who is very dedicated and loyal," Setaro said. "He is an outstanding business administrator, and he is honest and trustworthy. "We worked well together in the past," Setaro added, "and I expect it will continue here in Freehold Township." Setaro said the position was open because his business administrator, Sean Boyce, resigned to become the new business administrator in the Freehold Regional High School District, which is the biggest regional district in the state, according to Setaro. Boyle will be leaving Millstone, which is a K-8 district with three schools and 1,740 pupils, for Freehold Township's K-8 district, which has eight schools and 4,649 pupils. Mary Anne Donahue, Millstone's superintendent of schools, said she expects the Millstone Township Board of Education to accept Boyle's resignation at the Aug. 13 board meeting. Donahue recalled that Boyle arrived in Millstone just a few months after she did in August 1997. "He is a wonderful colleague and also a friend," Donahue said. "I am certainly going to miss him. "He is a gentleman and a professional," she continued, "and he has served the district well in his 10 years here. I know we will remain friends." As the district's assistant superintendent for business, Boyle earned $138,281 per year, according to Donahue. Donahue said the school district has advertised for a new business administrator and is currently accepting résumés. "The salary is to be negotiated," she said. According to Setaro, his district had about 25 applicants for the position and a committee interviewed eight of them "who had the qualifications and experience that met our standards." Setaro said, "The committee then moved three of those candidates to the next level, which was an in-basket activity, an interview with a principal and [the] present business administrator, and finally, an interview with the superintendent." Boyle could not be reached for comment prior to press time.
