Horsing around at the annual Festival of Horses
Those involved in the equine industry to those who simply admire horses can enjoy activities for everyone at the 19th annual Festival of Horses on Sunday, Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Horse Park of New Jersey in Allentown. Many events are planned to highlight the state's equine industry, including Standardbred and Thoroughbred yearling shows; mare and foal shows; a petting farm; face painting; and interactive educational displays. New this year, in conjunction with the festival, is a hunter/jumper show, Woodedge at the Park, featuring the $5,000 Marshall/Sterling Child's and Adult Classic. Millstone church to host movie night Aug. 15
The United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, located on Millstone Road in the Perrineville section of Millstone Township, will host a free movie night at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 15. All are invited to watch an action-packed drama about a high school football coach who has to draw up a new game plan for his team and himself. After losing the first three games of the season, the coach discovers that a group of fathers is plotting to have him fired. Combined with pressures at home, he has lost hope in his battle against fear and failure. Perrineville synagogue schedules an open house
Perrineville Jewish Center will hold an open house for potential new members on Sept. 5, 7:30-9 p.m. Those in attendance have the opportunity to tour the newly renovated and historic synagogue, to meet members and the rabbi and to learn about the center's one day a week Hebrew School and cultural events. The synagogue offers easy to follow Friday night services and all Interfaith families are always welcome. Located in the heart of rural Millstone Township, the synagogue is on Perrineville Road.
