Habitat ride scheduled for Sept. 16
Area motorcycle enthusiasts will be revving up their engines again to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. On Sept. 16, Western Monmouth Habitat for Humanity will host its eighth annual Motorcycle Ride for Affordable Housing.

State and municipal police officers will escort the 90-minute ride through Monmouth and Ocean counties, ending at the Colts Neck Fire House.

Following the ride there will be a party with food provided by Carrabba's Italian Grill. Registered riders also have the opportunity to raise sponsorship funds for which Habitat will award prizes. Raise $1,000 or more in sponsorship dollars and win a custom event leather jacket, sweatshirt and T-shirt. Those raising $500 or more receive a custom event denim jacket, sweatshirt and T-shirt. There will also be prizes awarded for $50 and $100 amounts, as well as door prizes.

"Each year we get bigger and bigger," said James Wishbow, event founder and coordinator. "I am always amazed at the great turnout for this event, and this year should be another record breaker."

Registration and check-in will be held from 9-10:45 a.m. at AMC Metroplex Theater, 101 Trotters Way (off Route 537), Freehold Township (at the Freehold Raceway Mall). Pre-register by Sept 12 and pay $20 for driver, $10 for passenger. After Sept. 12, pay $25 for driver, $15 for passenger. Register and raise funds online at www.westmonhabitat. org. Organizers said pre-registration would be appreciated.

For more information call Tom at (732) 528-7590 or James at (609) 259-6459. Commemorative pins will be given to the first 400 registered participants. The rain date will be Sept. 23.

Western Monmouth Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing worldwide. Working families in need of simple, decent housing join with Habitat for Humanity to build their own homes through "sweat equity," and purchase their homes with a no-interest mortgage.

Information about volunteer opportunities and donations can also be found at www.westmonhabitat.org or by calling (732) 308-3400 weekday mornings.
