Millstone seeks residents' stance on preservation

The Millstone Township Open Space and Farmland Preservation Council and the Millstone Township Agriculture Advisory Board are holding an open meeting to obtain public comment to develop a new farmland preservation plan.

In order to formulate a plan that complies with new state regulations and reflects the needs of all township residents, the boards need public comments early in the process. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27 in the courthouse at 215 Millstone Road.

The boards will ask for comments on agricultural issues such as preserving farmland, retaining agriculture as a viable industry, creating new market opportunities for agriculture, looking at right-to-farm issues and maintaining infrastructure and services for the agricultural community.

Written comments can be submitted prior to the meeting to Pat Butch, Farmland Preservation Chair, Municipal Building, 470 Stagecoach Road, Clarksburg, NJ 08510. For more information call the Millstone Land Use Department at (732) 446-4249, ext 101.
