Obituaries

Rudolph "Rudy" O. Hoch

Mr. Hoch, 85, of Mount Laurel, died Sept. 20, 2007. Born in Germany on March 27, 1922, to Irmgard (Lenz) and Hans Hoch, he came to the United States as a young boy and grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania. He studied engineering at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., and was a mechanical engineer for Grumman Corp., Long Island, N.Y., until 1969. After moving to Cherry Hill with his family, Mr. Hoch owned a business in Camden called Tech-Machine before he retired. Mr. Hoch served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific. He belonged to a literary club and a chess club, and also enjoyed playing golf and discussing politics. He was predeceased on May 29 by his wife, Dorothy Little, whom he had married in New York on Jan. 11, 1947. Surviving are two daughters and a sonin law, Lisa Corbisiero of River Edge, and Sonja "Sonny" and Frank Paprota of the Cream Ridge section of Upper Freehold; a sister, Sonja Junge of Lake Ronkonkoma, Suffolk County, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Mildred Marinaccio of Sparkill, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Patrick Corbisiero. Services were private and held in New York.

Velma Borchers

Mrs. Borchers, 71, of Freehold Township, died Sept. 6, 2007, at home. Born in Flat Lick, Ky., she had lived in New York, as well as in Holmdel and Colts Neck, before moving to Freehold Township in 2002. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Borchers was predeceased by her husband, Walter, in 1997. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Susan Borchers of Freehold Township, and Glenn and Emily Borchers of Topsham, Maine; a brother, Raymond Hammons of Sterling Heights, Mich.; two sisters, Ardith Holzmacher of Dataw Island, S.C., and Hazel Hammons of West Babylon, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, Ryan, Mallory, Lars and Fiona. Funeral services and interment were private, with the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Pittenger Statesir

Mrs. Statesir, 100, of Lakewood, died Sept. 12, 2007, at Harrogate adult community, Lakewood. Born in Freehold, she had resided in Point Pleasant and Freehold before moving to Lakewood in 1993. She was a charter member of The Church in Brielle; a former member of the Reformed Church of Freehold; a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Francis Hopkinson-Monmouth Court House Chapter, Freehold; a member and past president of the Cecilian Music Club of Freehold; a charter member of the Freehold Woman's Club; and a member of Monmouth Grange No. 92 of Freehold. Mrs. Statesir was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, William A. Statesir Sr., in 1992, as well as a sister, Marion P. McIlvane, in 2000. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, William A. Jr. and Helen Statesir of Portland, Texas, and John L. Sr. and Audrey Statesir of Jackson; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-greatgrandchildren. A funeral service was held at Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, followed by private burial at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Joseph J. Rossotto

Mr. Rossotto, 89, of Jackson, died Sept. 16, 2007, at home. He was born and raised in Jersey City, where he had lived before moving to Jackson in 2003. Prior to retiring in 1972, he worked in the gas division of Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) Co., Jersey City, for more than 25 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Rossotto is survived by his wife, Jennie Rossotto; a son and daughter in-law, Charlie and Carmella Rossotto of Colts Neck; a daughter and son-in-law, RoseAnn and Walter Woronkewycz of Millstone; a sister, Anna Buttacavole of Toms River; and three grandchildren, Joseph, Jenine and William. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Perrineville section of Millstone, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. The Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, New Jersey Region, P.O.
