Stiff sentences for bribes will set examples for officials
Federal Judge William Walls recently sentenced a local elected official to serve more time than was expected by certain people. I am sure the judge received the admiration of many people in our county and state.

Come the last week in October, several more elected officials and also former employees of Monmouth County are up for sentencing.

I hope whoever handles the sentencing will follow the example of Judge Walls.

Hopefully examples set now will have people thinking twice before considering taking a bribe and what suffering their families will face for years to come because of them.
