Millstone's former DPW lot for sale
Minimum bid set at $60,000
BY JANE MEGGITT Staff Writer

MILLSTONE - The old Department of Public Works (DPW) garage property on Millstone Road is for sale.

The Township Committee unanimously passed a resolution advertising for bids on the lot at its Nov. 7 meeting. The .66-acre parcel in the township's neighborhood commercial zone is located at 227 Millstone Road.

Deputy Mayor Robert Kinsey said the township decided to sell the lot and have it put back into productive use.

Mayor Nancy Grbelja said the governing body decided that the property no longer meets the needs of the community. She said the township used to keep wood chips on the site, but then people started dumping their own lawn clippings there.

"It became a mess," she said, adding that the township had to clean up the lot.

According to the resolution, the township's purchasing agent must receive bids for the lot by 2 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Municipal Clerk's Officeat 470 Stagecoach Road.

The township reserves the rights to accept the highest bid and to reject any and all bids, including the highest one. The resolution further states that the Township Committee will make its decision about the sale of the property known by resolution by its second regular meeting following receipt of the bids.

The winning bidder will have to pay 10 percent of the cost of the property with cash or certified check within 15 minutes of the close of bidding, and the other 90 percent with cash or certified check at the closing of title.

The resolution states that the minimum acceptable bid is $60,000.
