Rutgers Equine Science Center has new courses

The Equine Science Center at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, will offer two new courses in 2008 focusing on horse health and horse industry leadership.

The first is a semester-long program called "Advanced Equine Health Care and Management" that will meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings, starting Jan. 23 at the Cook campus at Rutgers in New Brunswick. The second is a two-day short course on "Developing Future Leaders for the Equine Industry" that will take place Jan. 9-10, also on the Cook campus.

Both courses are open to adult learners and continuing education students.

"Advanced Equine Health Care and Management" will study in depth the diseases and common emergency disorders of the horse. It will utilize the basic concepts of anatomy and physiology, apply them to clinical situations that might arise in horses, and teach students how to effectively manage many of these health-related situations.

"Developing Future Leaders for the Equine Industry" will feature several wellknown experts in the field and will study the equine industry, networking and relationship building, decision-making strategies, leadership practices and behaviors, building coalitions, and industry management.

Further information on the new courses and instructions for enrollment are available at www.esc.rutgers.edu or by calling (732) 932-9271.
