Commissions, boards get new members in Millstone

MILLSTONE- The start of a new year means township officials get to make new appointments to fill both volunteer and paid municipal positions.

Mayor Nancy Grbelja made appointments to various boards and commissions within theMillstone community at the Jan. 2 Township Committee meeting.

For the Planning Board, Grbelja appointedMitchellNewman andMary Pinney as Class IV members with four-year terms ending Dec. 31, 2011. She designated Thomas Pado to complete the unexpired term of Dan Murphy, which ends Dec. 31, 2010, and Robert Beck as the first alternate with a two-year term ending Dec. 31, 2009.

For the Zoning Board ofAdjustment, the mayor appointed Michael Novellino and Steven Barthelmes as regular members with four-year terms ending on Dec. 31, 2011, and Robert Bailey as the first alternate with a two-year term ending Dec. 31, 2009.

For the Environmental Commission,Grbelja reappointed Eric Davis as chairman with a term ending Dec. 31, Mary Pinney and Tara Zabrowsky as members with three-year terms ending Dec. 31, 2010, and Benny Quaglierini as first alternate with a two-year term ending Dec. 31, 2009.

Themayor also appointed Diane Bongo, Alan Young and Joanne Kelty as regular members of theHistoric Preservation Commission with three-year terms ending Dec. 31, 2010.

For the Recreation Commission, Grbelja appointed Michael Turner as a regular member with a five-year term ending Dec. 31, 2012, and Robert Brown as second alternate with a five-year term.

The mayor also appointed Caryn Ziner as amember of the Shade Tree Commission with a five-year term ending Dec. 31, 2012.

Grbelja will serve as the Township Committee's liaison to the staff thatworks on the community newsletter, township Web site and cable access channel. Shewill also serve as the committee's liaison to the township's agricultural board, personnel, senior citizens and Historic Preservation Commission.

Deputy Mayor Bob Kinsey will serve as the Township Committee's liaison to the public works, finance, health, safety and welfare, and parks and recreation departments. He will also serve as liaison to the Economic Development Council.

Committeeman Elias Abilheira will serve as the committee's liaison to county and state agencies as well as themunicipal drug alliance.

Committeeman Steven Sicowill serve as liaison for the Board of Education, municipal courts and the Environmental Commission.

New CommitteemanMichael Kuczinski will take over former Committeeman Ray Dilfanian's post as liaison to the Office of Emergency Management and the fire department and first aid squad. The newly appointed committee member will also assist Grbelja with work related to the newsletter, Web site and cable access channel.

The professional appointments included the reappointments of Duane Davison as township attorney,Matt Shafai as township engineer, Richard Coppola as township planner andWilliamAntonides as township auditor.
