Health board reorganizes in U.F. Twp. Community's health service contract expected to increase $3,300 BY JANE MEGGITT Staff Writer
UPPER FREEHOLD- The township's Board of Health reorganized at its first meeting of the year Jan. 8.
Officers of the board will remain as they have for several years, with Dr. S. Perrine Dey as chairman,Dr.Kathy Stryeski as vice chairwoman and Nancy Amontis as secretary.
The board also reappointed Kathleen Freiberger and James Rosenbauer for three-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2010, although Rosenbauer did not attend the meeting and could not be sworn in.
The board also reappointed Dr. Curtis Byrnes as a second alternate with a twoyear term, along with Ruby Klink as an ex officio member for 2008. The board appointed Lori Sue Mount as its Township Committee liaison for one year.
Stryeski chaired the meeting since Dey was out of town. She asked Freehold Area Health Department (FAHD) Officer Margaret Jahn about the interlocal agreement for health services the township has with the FAHD.
Although the township's Board of Health is an autonomous board, the interlocal agreement must go before the Township Committee for approval.
Stryeski said the township's annual costs for FAHD services have risen from $55,000 per year in 2007 to $58,300 this year. Jahn said the new agreement would be a two-year contract that includes a 4 percent salary increase for her.
Stryeski said the contract also includes an additional fee of $3,066 for public health nursing services, which Jahn said is for the Visiting Nurse Association.
Stryeski asked if the township had any additional costs in 2007 beyondwhat it budgeted for, and Jahn said there had not been additional costs. Jahn added that excess billing usually occurs when municipalities have an unusual amount of development and that construction has been slow.
