Inclement weather keeps firefighters, first aid busy MILLSTONE - Township firefighters had a busy weekend. The Millstone Township Fire Department responded to a house fire on Feb. 23, an early morning accident on Feb. 24 and anothermotor vehicle accident later on Sunday, according to Millstone Township Fire District No.1. On Friday, firefighters were dispatched at 8:42 p.m. to 20 Brookside Road for a possible structure fire. Firefighters arrived at the scene within four minutes of the call to find a house with flames in all of the windows and near the roof. The snow and ice and an electrical wire arching low in the driveway hampered firefighting operations. The firefighters, however, made entry into the house and performed search and rescue for a reported victim still inside. Firefighters later discovered that all familymembers had been accounted for and had sustained no injuries. TheMillstone Township FirstAid Squad and the Millstone Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary assisted on the call, as did fire departments from Freehold, JacksonMills,Manalapan,Applegarth and Allentown. The Millstone firefighters remained at the scene until 1:30 a.m. TheMillstone Fire Prevention Bureau and the Monmouth County Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire. Early Sunday morning, Millstone's fire department and first aid squad responded at 3:29 a.m. to Prodelin Way in the area of Huneke Way for a reported car accident. Firefighters arrived to find a single carwith heavy front-end damage in the woods that had struck a tree. The occupant was found lying outside of the vehicle in the snow with leg injuries. The firefighters secured the vehicle while the Millstone Township First Aid Squad transported the driver to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. Later on Sunday at 8:16 a.m.,Millstone's fire department and first aidwere dispatched to another motor vehicle accident on Route 33 in the area ofMillstoneRoad. Firefighters arrived to find a single carwith front-end and side damage that had struck a tree. A passing motorist had removed the driver from the vehicle. The firefighters secured the vehicle while first aid treated and transported the driver to CentraState. The fire department also reported that the Millstone Township First Aid Squad handled two other calls in town at the same time on Sunday. |
