Many talents create new vision of mill
 | | CHRIS KELLY staff Allentown Art Guild members collaborated to create this mural of the Allentown Mill and Mill Pond. The mural is on display at the Allentown Public Library. |
| Area artists collaborated to create an eclectic interpretation of Allentown's most recognizable vista.
Members of theAllentownArt Guild recently completedMural Project 2008, a collective artistic exercise in which the group divided a photo of the Allentown Mill and Mill Pond into individual squares.
Each artist was free to interpret the square as they wished and to render that square in the medium of his or her choice.
When the squares were sewn together, a cooperative and new vision of themill and pond emerged. The finished mural is presently hanging in the Allentown Public Library.
The Allentown Art Guild was established in 2006 with a mission of stimulating interest in the visual arts in Allentown and its surrounding communities. The guild holds monthly meetings consisting of educational lectures, demonstrations by guest artists and hands-on workshops, many of which are open to the public.
