Scheff thanks supporters, calls for unification of U.F.'s GOP

I would like to use this opportunity to thank the 400 Upper Freehold residents who showed their support of my campaign by casting a vote for me in the Republican primary last week. Although this was not enough to win the seat on the Township Committee, I had the opportunity to meet hundreds of my fellow residents and to see some beautiful properties in our amazing township. I wouldn't have traded this opportunity for anything.

Further, I would not have been able to achieve anything without the commitment and dedication of my campaign committee. Working closely with this group of people was one of the most motivating and rewarding aspects of the campaign. To these folks, I would like to say a very, very, special thank you.

I will be continuing to serve Upper Freehold on the Economic Development Committee and hope to participate in other ways in the future. Many of the issues that we have in Upper Freehold are very serious, and I plan on continuing to attend Township Committee meetings so that I can add in my two cents.

The only difference for me having not won the election is which side of the dais I'll be sitting on! I urge everyone to take an active role in our local government by attending a committee meeting from time to time so that you can learn first hand what is going on in our township.

Personally, I have learned a great deal from my experience of being a candidate in the election. I wish that my opponent had spent more time telling you why you should vote for him rather than why you shouldn't vote for me. However, I have no regrets and will remember this time with great fondness.

In closing, I would like to congratulate the winners of the Republican county committee seats for Upper Freehold. It is my hope that this team of individuals will work to support the Republican Party in a way that is positive and unified. The entire township suffers as a result of the political divisiveness, … and we won't be able to make any real strides or achievements until the folks whose only goal is to be contrary change their ways.
