Businesses burglarized in U.F. and Millstone The New Jersey State Police said no arrests have been made in relation to any of the cases. On the morning of June 23, Cream Ridge Golf Club Manager Bill Miscoski found the front door, which faces the golf course, broken open. The pro shop, the café office and a janitorial supply closet had also been broken into, he said. The thieves also broke into the golf club's safe, Miscoski said. The theft and damage resulted in a total estimated loss of $25,000, Miscoski said. While the golf club has an alarm, the alarm company never received notification that it went off because the thieves climbed a telephone pole and cut the wires, according to Miscoski. Miscoski said authorities had not notified him about a similar burglary at the Hanover Golf Club in Burlington County, but that he took the initiative to call the Gamblers Ridge Golf Club on Burlington Path Road to warn it about the recent incidents. The state police investigated the burglary at the Cream Ridge Golf Club and shut down the pro shop for three hours as they conducted its review. The burglars apparently wore gloves, as police did not find any fingerprints, according to Miscoski. While the club's soda machines had been broken into in the past, Miscoski said the club had never been burglarized in the decades his family has operated the golf course. "I will never leave money in the safe overnight now," he said. State Police Detective Mike Rosica reported that Tommy's Millstone Inn on Route 537 in Millstone was broken into through a side door and burglarized June 10. Rosica also said that bushels of soybeans, bales of rye straw and fuel from vehicles were stolen from an Upper Freehold farm in the spring. He said the loss added up to a considerable amount but did not specify a total. Rosica said similar burglaries have also taken place in surrounding towns. He said the number of commercial burglaries has increased in New Jersey and nationwide. |
