Allentown High School senior attends USSAG

Rob Dembinski, a senior at Allentown High School, just returned from participating in the 2008 United States Scholar-Athlete Games (USSAG) held on the campus of the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I.

The 2008 USSAG, organized and hosted by The Institute for International Sport, featured an assembly of student athletes and artists for weeklong competitions and educational symposia, June 28-July 5. All 50 states and 34 countries were represented in these games.

Dembinski was accepted into the games due to his demonstrated academic and athletic achievements. He participated in baseball, pitching and playing first base.

The USSAG is one of the signature events of the Institute of International Sport, founded in 1986 by Dan Doyle. The games combine athletic, cultural and educational activities with the overall goal of helping young participants learn about the sportsmanship, ethics, leadership, and respect for multiple cultures and people.
