New exhibit to open at Red Horse Gallery FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — VSA arts of New Jersey is staging a new exhibit by artists Vimala Gade, Matthew Loscialo, Lois Monaghan, Tracy Reinhardt and Anthony Zaremba now until Aug. 21, at the Red Horse Gallery at the Freehold Raceway Mall. A meet-the-artists reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. July 9 at the gallery. Located on the upper mall level next to Sears, the Red Horse Gallery is a collaboration of VSA arts of New Jersey and the Arc of Monmouth. The gallery features exhibits by artists with disabilities, special events, and classes. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Founded in 1978, VSA arts of New Jersey is a part of the international VSA arts network, an affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. VSA arts of New Jersey is dedicated to promoting the creative power of people with disabilities. Statewide programming and services include arts education, professional development, award competitions, exhibits, festivals and performances. Arc Resources Unlimited (ARU) is an employment services program of The Arc of Monmouth. ARU's team of professionals assist people who have disabilities in finding a job, reflective of their skills, abilities and talents, and continues support during the training process, and on an as needed basis after the person has become successfully employed. In ARU's quest to promote the skills, talents and dreams of people with disabilities, the collaboration with VSA arts of New Jersey was a natural progression, according to a press release. The Arc of Monmouth received funding from the Monmouth County Arts Council to assist individuals with disabilities in exhibiting, promoting and retailing their art at the Red Horse Gallery in the Freehold Raceway Mall. Artists age 18 and over with disabilities are invited to gain exposure and to sell their art at the location in the mall. All two- and three-dimensional media are accepted. The deadline for exhibit proposals is July 3.
