Deeds are true measure of accomplishment
At the end of the June 3 televised public meeting of the Millstone Township Committee, recognition and respect for the decision of our electorate was acknowledged by one of the more vocal individuals that support those who failed to win the primary.

While not publicly admitting to direct involvement, he apologized for the contrived videos, inaccurate information and an array of personal attacks, in what appeared to be a sincere statement that went on to suggest working together in the future.

Our mayor, having been a target of personal attacks, graciously thanked him for his comments. Minutes later, after the meeting closed, the mayor was confronted by this same individual, angrily trying to engage her in a conversation with the same actions that necessitated an apology in the first place.

Encouragement to constructively participate as a member of the Citizens COAH Task Force was met with counter-productive intransigence and a refusal to curtail the increasingly hostile, inflammatory and erroneous postings to his website. Cooperation and consensus were sacrificed to self-interest, yet now we witnessed truth taken hostage to opportunism.

Experience teaches us that while words are powerful, it is deeds that are the true measure of accomplishment and character. Time and time again, despite all hope and opportunity, we are disappointed by some who, for a myriad of inexplicable reasons, are compelled to attack, damage and tear down.

Fortunately, the astute electorate in Millstone Township recognizes the contributions — the deeds of its residents, volunteers and elected officials.

My personal thanks and respect to all, for that which we are fortunate to enjoy.
